Valley of Visions and the Medway Gap
Valley of Visions (VOV) is an impressive landscape-scale project that, thanks to a £2.5 million grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund, has helped sustain the landscape of the iconic Medway Gap.
Running from November 2007 to June 2013, the Scheme worked in partnership with communities, schools, landowners and local organisations to conserve the landscape, wildlife and rich heritage of the area. It also encouraged residents and visitors to learn about, enjoy and celebrate this stunning part of the AONB, nestled between Rochester and Maidstone in mid Kent.
Chalk grassland restoration, an extensive events programme, new community trails, engaging with schools and conserving ancient monuments, are just a handful of the successful projects that were undertaken. Although now completed, the legacy of VOV and the hard work of the team, landowners and local organisations, continues.
