County Council Rural Revival
Since September 1999 the County Council's Rural
Revival initiative has been offering rural communities the opportunity
to bid for money towards developing their own projects. There are
two sources of funding available for new and creative projects that
respond to identified local need:
- the Community Chest fund for community groups,
voluntary organisations and small rural businesses acting in a
community-focused way. Each applicant can bid for up to £2500.
- the Partnership Fund for partner organisation acting
in a community-focused way.
Potential applicants can apply for up to 50% of the
total cost of their project, and match funding can be in either
cash or kind (i.e. volunteer time)...more
LEADER+
The Mid Kent LEADER+ programme covers 29 rural wards in Swale, Maidstone,
Ashford and Shepway districts, stretching from the Isle of Sheppey
and river Swale coastal marshes to Romney Marsh and Dungeness. Since
April 2002 a Local Partnership has been in place to assist communities,
voluntary groups, individuals and rural businesses through grants
for innovative projects which improve the quality of life in the mid
Kent area.
The programme will also support sustainable environmental land management
practices and projects to improve the provision of and access to local
services particularly through the use of “know how” and
new technology. The target age groups for the programme are the young
and older people.
