Spong Wood Nature Reserve
Kent Wildlife Trust site. The woodland is regularly coppiced to maintain a rich diversity of plants and animals. The dominant tree species are sweet chestnut, hornbeam, hazel, ash, maple and willow. Lady orchid, greater butterfly orchid and herb-Paris can be found on the thinner soils on the top part of the slope. Ramsons, bluebell and broom are all found on the lower slopes.
