This old chalk quarry has dramatic views from the Folkestone Downs over the Channel Tunnel complex, Folkestone and the English Channel. The main feature is the large area of chalk grassland on a series of steep-sided south facing slopes. In summer the grassland is ablaze with rare flowers and herbs - cowslip, vetches, thyme, rock rose and a range of orchids. Along with these plants come butterflies such as the common and chalkhill blues, blue and green hairstreak, marbled whites, and the nationally scarce Adonis blue.
