The quality of the Kent Downs landscape speaks for itself. The area has some of the finest countryside in England, close to major centres of population yet deeply rural, exceptionally rich in wildlife, natural beauty and cultural heritage. This is a landscape which has evolved over thousands of years through a close and on-going relationship between people and the land, creating an exceptional and nationally important area. The Kent Downs  has been shaped by the people who live and work here. Supporting and working with communities is a vital way in which the AONB supports real action on the ground.

A viable local economy is essential for the future of the Kent Downs. We work with farmers, producers, tourism businesses and craftspeople to help businesses care for the land and keep traditional skills alive.

We would like to include links to parish websites on this page so please contact us if you would like your website to be included.

Neighbourhood Planning - the Kent Downs AONB is working with Action for Communities in Rural Kent, CPRE and local authorities to help support communities who are considering developing neighbourhood plans.
