KENT FARMSTEAD GUIDANCE and KENT DOWNS AONB FARMSTEAD GUIDANCE:
Consultation draft March 2011
Consultation period 29th March to midnight 24th May 2011
The Kent Farmstead Guidance offers new assistance to help keep Kent’s fine legacy of Historic Farmsteads in active use. Both documents have been produced by English Heritage, and funded by the Kent Downs AONB, Kent County Council and the Kent Design Initiative. The Kent Farmstead Guidance is intended to supplement the Kent Design Guide, produced by Kent Design Initiative, and the Kent Downs AONB document will become part of the Kent Downs AONB suite of guidance supporting the AONB Management Plan.
Two linked documents are available:
- the main consultation draft Kent Farmstead Guidance provides help in assessing the historic value of farmsteads, and shows how best to conserve, enhance and develop them, without destroying their value, thus ensuring their long term economic use. Please note that this is a large document and will take a while to download. (29.796 kb)
- the Kent Downs AONB Farmstead Guidance provides easy access to the generic information in the main Kent consultation draft from specific Kent Landscape Character Areas within the Kent Downs, and gives specific advice on rarity and significance in that locality.
This informal consultation is seeking the views of key stakeholders on the 2 draft guidance documents. We would be pleased to receive your opinions on content, accuracy, its general usefulness and any areas not covered, including your answers to the 5 key questions provided.
