Holly Hill Woodlands
Sitting high on the west bank of the Medway Gap, hidden away between Snodland and Vigo can be found Holly Hill. Walking from a small car park well signposted from Birling Hill leads into an extensive stretch of accessible and relatively uncommon beech and yew woodland interspersed with quality chalk grassland on the valley sides. Following the network of public footpaths you will be afforded wonderful glimpses across the valley towards the villages of Burham and Wouldham on the east bank of the River Medway.
This area is part of the Valley of Visions, the Kent Downs AONB’s Heritage Lottery Funded Landscape Partnership Scheme. This scheme is working to reconnect people with the impressive heritage landscapes within the valley and to conserve and protect its habitats and heritage features. The Holly Hill woodlands are experiencing extensive access improvements that are resulting in illegal motorcycle access being halted and the important and impressive habitats protected for the public to enjoy.
